Mission

The mission of Views From The Struggle, INC. is to open doors of opportunity for disadvantaged youth. We realize the importance of keeping our youth engaged in programming that stimulates the imagination and improves life skills. Through our sponsorship program, we provide funding for youth to participate in extracurricular activities including, but not limited to, arts programs, summer camps and sports leagues. With the help of our donors, we hope to give our local youth a better view of life; one neighborhood at a time.

Who We Are

The Board of Directors for Views From The Struggle, INC. is made up of New Haven natives. We are educators, activists, counselors and coaches. Living in such a diverse city, we saw that not all youth had the same opportunity to participate in the many programs the city had to offer. Founders Otis Brown, Jr. and Makeda Flake started this nonprofit in 2018 with the intention of giving local youth the opportunity to participate in programs they otherwise might not be able to.

What We Do

Each donation directly helps us to connect a local student with a program of interest. We are continuously building partnerships with reputable local organizations that will accept and nurture these students. Donations are tax deductible.
